week ending 2.10.20

Welcome to our class blog. This is the page where we will share our learning with you on a weekly basis. Let's have a look at the exciting things we have been learning in class this week....
This week we have been using the text Spinderella as the focus for our learning. This Julia Donaldson text is perfect for developing our understanding of numbers. Here we are using playdough to make numbers.
In the text there are lots of words and this has linked in nicely with the start of our learning using Read Write Inc. We have been thinking about initial sounds and what they look like when they are written down. We used the text and did a mini hunt for some letter sounds. We then wrote them down to help us to remember them.
In the story the spiders lived high above the school in a dusty, dirty ceiling full of cobwebs. We used different construction materials to make buildings for the spiders to make their webs.
We have also looked at numbers and the order we say them in. We have been developing our number recognition and understanding of number order. Here we are ordering spider numbers. Fantastic work
Next week we will be continuing our work using Julia Donaldson texts and we will be focusing on the Gruffalo. This is a text that is perfect for developing our creative ideas and we are so very excited. Have a lovely weekend. Staff and children in Reception W
