week ending 21.10.22

Hello and a warm welcome back to our class blog. Firstly i would like to say thank you so much to those parents who attended parents evening, it was a pleasure to share with you the classroom environment and to share the exciting things we have been learning about in Reception. Let's take a little look at the lovely things we have been learning about in class this week during our Autumn Enhancement Week smiley

Thank you to all those people who took the time to go into the great outdoors and collect autumnal items. We looked through each bag together, we talked, sorted, learned about all of the different objects you collected and we have completed some amazing activities using them. Thank you smiley

We used all of the lovely items to develop our language. We talked about shapes, colours and textures. We widened our vocabulary and tried to think of lots of different ways to describe how they looked and sounded. Here just a few .......

Eliana - rough and crunchy

Max - noisy

Freddie - crispy

We also explored our new sensory writing trays. We explored how to write the letter sounds we have been learning in Read Write Inc and shared our achievements with our friends.

We also would like to thank whoever made these fabulous models and added these to their Autumn bags - sadly there wasn't a name on. They are amazing and the children have really enjoyed trying to replicate them in their play yes

We have also been exploring how to make letters using different materials. Who know that you could use leaves to make letters? Wonderful work and lots of lovely explorations to see which letters we could replicate. Try this in the garden at home

We have also been making an Autumn collage. Lots of glue, patience and different textured materials but it was so worth it. This will form the focus point of all of our Autumn work which we will display at the end of this week

And finally. We used the remainder of the wonderful resources we had to create some transient art work. We talked, looked at examples and came up with our own ideas about what we could make. This was a lovely activity for developing discussion, sharing ideas, working together and problem solving

After the holidays we will be using texts linked to animals. We will discover and learn about animals that are suitable for pets in the home, those that live in the zoo and on the farm and compare and contrast different animals. Our first text will be Jacob O'Reilly wants a pet - a story of a little buy who wants a whole host of animals that are not really suitable for living at his house. It's a wonderful story have a little watch with your grown up before you return to school.

We hope that you have a wonderful and restful weeks holiday

see you all very soon
