Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. As you know, this week we have bene using the text The Snail and The Whale. Oh how lovely it has been for us to develop our writing and learn about the world around us. Let's take a look.....
As always, we carefully set up our invitations to come and play and learn in the classroom. Here are just some of the ones we have explored this week with relation to our text of the week
We have been working hard in maths to develop our knowledge of instructions and spatial awareness. We had construction cards and tried to follow the patterns and shapes independently. It was tricky but we learned so much
To help us to learn more facts about snails and whale we took to the Internet safely to discover more about them. We learned about the different types of whales, the size of them, what they eat and where they live. We also learned all about snails and the mazing things they can do. Such a lot of knowledge
As we do each week, we took our learning outdoors and onto the ALPS. What an amazing time we had. We created snail pictures using different materials, we went on a mini beats hunt and can you believe it we found 8 different types of minibeast! 8! And yes we did find a snail - 2 tiny little baby ones. You'll be pleased to know that once we had carefully looked at our creatures we replaced them where we discovered them
Mrs Baggaley brought us 2 snails from her garden to look at. We watched them move, learned about their features and used the Internet to find out what they like to eat. Did you know that snails love to eat broccoli, bananas, strawberries and even sweetcorn! we too were amazed by these facts. What a healthy bunch they are
On our return to class we completed some writing to help us remember and to order the events that took place on the ALPS. Here is just a small sample of writing
We also explored writing on different surfaces - a little like the snail did in the story. Take a look at us writing on foil - an ideas from last weeks pack. We are writing Save the Whale.
We wish you a wonderful and restful half term
See you all very soon for our very last half term in Reception
