week ending 27th January 2023

Hello and welcome back to our class blog. This week we have been busy learning all about The Enormous Turnip. Let's take a little look at all of the weeks learning .......

We have been exploring patterns this week. We have looked what constitutes a pattern and we selected different colours and made some repeating patterns with them. Take a look at some of the wonderful examples of work. We hope to display these in our classroom smiley

Each week we take our text of the week and on a Friday we work on innovating it. We change the characters, setting and sometimes the ending of the story. This week we innovated the enormous turnip. We created a list of all the things that we could have instead of a turnip. The Enormous Cupcake was my favourite. Yum!

We have also been exploring different fruit and vegetables this week, We have looked at the colours, shapes and textures and had a go at drawing our own and adding a label.

This week has been a fantastic week for showcasing independent work. Take a look at some of the lovely writing we have celebrated this week. Fabulous. Keep up the good work everyone yes

We have also been exploring and developing our knowledge linked to number sentences. Take a look at the fabulous progress we are making. It's so lovely to see the children's confidence grow and the sense of pride when they achieve

We took to the great outdoors despite it being a rainy week. We love to be outside and it's great development both physically and socially. We used the wind socks, bubbles, chalks and generally had fun.

As we do every Friday we complete our sticky learning book. This is a wonderful book that we add to each week with photographs, drawings, comments, samples of work - anything that the children are proud of and that links to our learning. Have a little look at the learning we have done about Traditional Tales. Marvellous isn't it?

Next week we will be learning all about The Three Little Pigs. Have a little look at the story on the Internet if you have the chance. Or even better see if you have the book at home.

Also you will have had a Weduc message regarding our Reading Stay and Play on Thursday morning when you drop the children off. We have lots of lovely ideas and activities to share with you and of course, a little something to take home at the end to help you continue the good work.

Have a great weekend
