Week ending 28th January 2022

Hello and welcome back to our class blog. This week we have been learning all about the Enormous Turnip. We have been exploring lots of new learning. Let's take a little look and find out....

WE have been exploring how to use balances to weigh. We used our hands to weigh to begin with and talked about heavy and light. We looked at some misconceptions like the biggest parcel is the heaviest - we tested our predictions and found out which were true and which were false smiley

We have also been exploring writing letter sounds using paint. We talked about the little rhymes that we use when we are writing to help us remember how to form the letters correctly.  Here we are perfecting our skills smiley

We have also been developing our story telling skills in different ways. We listened to the story and then created a story map. We talked about the beginning, middle and end and used arrows to direct the reader and show them which way to follow the text.

We have also been outside working on developing our gross motor skills. We have had challenges to complete and a circuit to follow. We had to catch the ball 5 times, twirl and hoop, jump in and out 5 times and then jog to the finish line. Phew!

Next week we will be celebrating and exploring the traditions linked to Chinese New Year. 2022 is the year of the Tiger. Have a little look over the weekend at anything on the news or in newspapers about New Year. We would love these to be brought to school if you can fine them.

Also a friendly reminder that Monday is the day we change both reading books and loan library books. It is really important that these come to school every week so we can share and celebrate your child's successes and achievements. Thank you for your continued support. smiley

Have a great weekend
