Hello and welcome back to our class blog. This week has been a really busy week jam packed full of learning. This week we have been using the text Spinderella as the focus for our learning and what a lot of learning we have done
We started the week off by learning about matching numeral and quantity using spiders. We had to identify the number, check by counting the spots and then add the correct number of spiders to the web. We worked on developing our number recognition to 10
We also had a 1 minute spider challenge. We had to use tweezers to sift through sticky spaghetti to lift out as many spiders as possible in 1 minute. This was quite a challenge but as always, we tried our very best.
We also got busy with our scissors and spent some time designing and cutting spider webs. These are on the display board in class so please come and take a look
We also went out onto the ALPS and spent some time weaving outdoors. We used different fabrics and hung them in the trees and we are hoping that when we return next week that the spiders have used them to create their webs
We have also been busy developing our fine motor skills. We have stuffed tights with scrunched up paper and manipulated them into spiders. These are great and now proudly hand from the display boards in class. I am sure you agree we did a pretty good job
And finally, we finished the week off by designing and making spider cakes. This involved lots of language, discussion and problem solving. Who knew so many skills could be developed from this type of activity
So that's all for this week. Next week we will be using the familiar text The Gruffalo as the focus for our learning. Once again we will be going out onto the ALPS on Tuesday so please make sure that your child has wellingtons and a coat in school.
Another reminder that reading books are changed on a Monday and we read with the children every Friday afternoon so they need to have their book in school on these 2 days.
Have a great weekend
