week ending 31st June 2023

Hello and a warm welcome back to this weeks class blog. This week we have been busy learning using the text Room on the Broom. Let's have a little look at this weeks exciting learning.

As you already know we set the classroom up each week with lovely experiences for the children to explore, learn and develop knowledge linked to the text of the week. This week is no exception. Take a little peek at the things on offer to the children this week smiley

We went out for our weekly trip to the ALPS on Monday. We took our text of the week, our snack and made some of our own broomsticks using twigs etc and created a large scale weaving - great activities for promoting funky finger and fine motor co-ordination.

We have also been exploring directions this week in our maths work. We have been creating and escaping from mazes. We have been using and learning language such as left, right, turn, up, down and forwards and backwards smiley

We have also been developing our knowledge of patterns. We have looked lots and lots of different patterns and the variations we can introduce for example green green blue green green blue. Did you know that we can now make, describe and use up to 5 colours to make a repeating pattern yes

We had an absolutely amazing time celebrating Rock Star Day. The performance was fabulous and the children had an amazing time taking part in all of the funk and funky activities and dances.

Our time in Reception is sadly coming to an end but we still have 3 more fun filled weeks left together. Next week we will be using the text Tabby McTat as the focus for our learning. Here is the link to listen to the story in case you would like to listen to it before Monday.
