Week ending 4th March 2022

Hello and welcome back to our class blog. We hope that you had a lovely and restful weeks holiday. This week we have been using the text Olivers Vegetables to help us with our learning. This half term it is all about Growth, growth of us as people, animals and of course plants and food. We have so many wonderful experiences lined up we are very excited. Let's have a little look...

As we were learning all about vegetables and fruit and where they grow we made some observational drawings. We sketched with pencils and added details using pastels. Here are just two of our wonderful images. These are now proudly displayed in our role play farm shop smiley

We have also been exploring how to record simple number sentences. We used skittles and a ball and added the ones we knocked over to the ones that were still standing and hey presto we have a number sentence. The children loved this activity and was great for many things number related such as recognising numbers, counting and writing numbers and developing our mathematical language yes

We have also been using language to share our likes and dislikes just like Oliver did in the story. We talked about our favourite foods and drew pictures and added a label. Our writing is coming on a treat, please continue to practice at home as it is really making a positive difference to the children. Thank you!

We have also been developing our knowledge of number bonds. The children are really beginning to see the patterns when recording number bonds and this is they type of work they are producing independently. Amazing! We are so very proud of them yes

We also welcomes Mrs Shirley to class this week. Mrs Shirley will be with us every Thursday afternoon for the next few weeks helping us to develop our knowledge and skills linked to rhythm and beat and all things musical. It was such a lovely session. Here we are using sticks to tap out the beat of carrots and peas - see if the children can show you using their fingers as the sticks smiley

And finally, World Book Day. We had an absolute fantastic time on Friday. Can you believe that during the whole course of the day we managed to read as a class 9 books. We loved it!!! Here are just some of the wonderful costumes we saw. Thank you for your continued support it really does make a BIG difference.

Next week we will be using the text Farmer Duck to help us with our learning. We can't wait to share with you our blog next Friday. Have a great weekend. Staff and Children in Reception W smiley
