Week ending 5th July 2019

Hi and welcome back to our class blog. The end of the year is fast approaching and we are continuing to work hard right up until the end. Thank you to all of those parents who took the time to attend the meetings on Wednesday, I am sure that you will agree it was lovely to hear all about your child's strengths and achievements during their time in Reception.
So at the start of this week we have been developing our knowledge of the names and properties of 3D shapes. We sorted, classified and organised them into sets. We set the children a challenge to try and find 3D shapes in the home. How many did you find?
We also spent some time out on the MUGA undertaking a pipette challenge. This was so much fun. Why not ask your child to use their speaking and listening skills to explain how it worked smiley
We have also been exploring balance and co-ordination. We had to hold a ball and roll it backwards and forwards on a tray without it dripping onto the floor. Tricky indeed but lots of fun
We have also been exploring direction. We have been using language such as left, right, up, down, forwards and backwards to create treasure maps. Here is one of our very talented children demonstrating how to create a map using arrows.
We also have another reason to celebrate. We have another 2 more children who have achieved their red spelling badges. We are so very proud of each and every one of the children in our class and we are immensely proud of the way they work with resilience and 100% effort. Well done everyone yes

That's it for this week. Join us again for our second to last blog ever in Reception. We are beginning to collect in our loan library books so that we can check they are all in good condition for next year. Look forward to seeing you all on Monday. Enjoy the sunshine.
