week ending 5th May 2023

Welcome back to our class blog and what a lovely week of sunshine we have had both inside and outside of the classroom. As you already know this week has been all about Zog. We have listened to the story, acted it out and created some wonderful work linked to the fabulous story. Let's take a little look at this weeks highlights smiley

We started the week off in the Maths area. We explored the number of coloured dragons in the story of Zog and set about creating number sentences to represent them. Take a look at this amazing independent work. Fabulous! It's so rewarding to see the children developing and practising their skills independently whilst learning in the provision yes

We have added some new texts to our Julia Donaldson collection in class. We now have 31 of her wonderfully written stories that the children can access. Here we are sharing and looking at our favourite stories smiley

We have also spent some time decorating our classroom in preparation for the Coronation fun on Friday. More to come later in the blog about that but here is a sneak peek smiley

As you know the children were very excited to go out to Dragon school on the ALPS. We had such an amazing time. We had to search for stars on to then put ourselves into a human number line in the right place. We created Zog puppets to help us retell the story and even had time for snack and a story on the ALPS. Such a lovely morning.

Mrs Baker sent us a lovely letter on our return from Dragon School. It seems that everyone had a good time and what a lot of learning took place. smiley

On our return to class we started to think about all of the amazing things we do each and everyday and what could we do to earn a gold star just like Zog did in the story. Here are just some of our lovely ideas yes

We also went outside and thought about the ways we can write letters, words etc outside on a big scale without the need for pen and paper. Here we are using water and paintbrushes to explore giant mark making. Try this at home. The children love it smiley

And finally, to our Coronation celebrations. We had afternoon tea, wore crowns and generally had a fabulous time. Take a look at the celebrations smiley

Next week it's all about the Smartest Giant in town. Please see the link below for you to watch at home over the weekend. Whatever you're doing have a great time and we will see you all again on Tuesday smiley
