week ending 5th October 2018

Hello and welcome back to our blog. This week we have been using the text The Gruffalo to support our learning and what a fun time we have had!

Let's take a look at this weeks learning ........

We used pegs and pretended that they were the purple prickles on the back of the Gruffalo. We had to find and add the correct number of pegs and to only take that amount from a larger group. This was tricky but with a little practise we developed our skills.
We took our learning outside and used the large space to draw a picture of the Gruffalo and other characters from the story.  We used chalk and loved exploring the space as it helped us with our large scale movements.
We have also been learning about shapes and thinking about where they are in the classroom. This week we have been using 2d shapes and trying to find similar shapes in the environment. What shapes can you see in and around your house?
We also went out onto the ALPS and collected lots of natural materials such as twigs, leaves and other things such as moss and used them to create pictures of the Gruffalo. Take a look at the amazing work we have produced.
We made Gruffalo paw prints. We followed the recipe and used language to describe the processes we undertook to make them. We listened to the Gruffalo story on the Internet as we ate them. Delicious smiley

Next week we are going to use the text Tyrannosaurus Drip as the focus for our learning. We are also planning to go out onto the ALPS again next Tuesday so please don't forget your wellies. We have also sent home a Home Learning Challenge for next week. We can't wait to see the finished results.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend
