Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. What a wonderful week of learning we have explored. Let's look at some of this weeks invitations to learn linked to the story of Jaspers Beanstalk ![]()
We started the week off by creating a story map depicting what happened on what day in the story of Jaspers Beanstalk. This was a great way to help reinforce the days of the week and the order they occur. Here are some of the examples we produced ![]()
We then used our magic microphones to share our story maps with our friends. This is one of our favourite times of the week and the children love to share their work with their friends ![]()
We then thought about innovating the text. We talked about what Jasper may have found at the top of his beanstalk. We had so many lovely ideas. We are really developing our author skills and our wonderful imagination and creativity helps us with our story telling. Here are just some of our ideas ![]()
One of the activities we have explored this week is how and where do flowers grow. Jasper grew his beanstalk from a bean but we have learned about how flowers grow. We have talked about the shoots, roots and leaves and watched a video about what happens over time. We then completed some observational drawings and someone even made a daffodil fan ![]()
We have also been busy in the creative area and used lots of different materials to create a beanstalk. We cut, adapted and explored how to make it stick together until we achieved the goal of creating a beanstalk. Take a look at some of our wonderful efforts
We have also been using the Beebot to move up and down the beanstalk as we learn more about directions. The children loved using the beebot and learning about how to make it move forwards, backwards, left and right ![]()
One of our favourite days of the year was on Thursday this week. We love World Book Day. We had a great time dressing up, listening to and reading stories and taking part in lots of fabulous activities linked to reading. Take a look at the smiles on our faces. A great time was had by all ![]()
Next week we will be learning using the text Oliver's Vegetables. A lovely tale about a little boy who loves chips but doesn't realise that they are made from potatoes and potatoes are a vegetable. If you would like to listen to the story before Monday please click on the link below -
