Week ending Friday 13th November

Hello and welcome back to our class blog. This week we have been reading Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. We have loved reading her stories and we have had another fantastic week.

We thought it would be good this week to look at weight and measurements in maths. WE had all of the items from our story and we used the balancing scales to see which were heavier and which were lighter. We loved this and it was great to develop our understanding of weight. Although we did find it tricky when the bigger items were sometimes lighter!

We have also been thinking about number this week. We split up the witch's wands into groups and we had to count them to see which group had more and which had less. As a extra challenge we wanted to find out how many we had all together and so we counted them and created a number sentence.
We've been working really hard this week with our writing and creating simple words on our own. We had to think of a word and find the correct letter sounds to form this word. This was tricky to put hem in the right order but we have had lots of practice in RWI.
We've loved learning about our number of the week this week. We started the week with our magic carpet activity and finding everything for the number 5. We have then been searching for our number of the week in our classroom. Take a look at what we have found.

We have had another fantastic week in reception and we have been so busy. Next week we are reading 'The snail on the whale' and I think the children are going to really enjoy it.

Please can I ask that all reading books are in on Wednesday and that reading diaries are signed ready to be changed -Thank you

Have a great weekend,

Miss Jellyman
