Week ending Friday 13th September

Hello and welcome back to our class blog for Reception F. It has been our first full week at school this week and we have all absolutely loved it. We have had so much fun in our new classroom and have already learnt so much.

We have been looking this week at the book Spinderella by Julia Donaldson and we have enjoyed learning so much about it. We have been thinking about the characters in our story, splitting our story up into the beginning, middle and end and we can even remember that an author writes our stories and an illustrator draws the pictures.

We have done lots of activities all around our story Spinderella. We have worked really hard as a class to thread a spider web and we have even drawn our spiders to live on it.  We have also practiced our cutting skills in school this week. We tried our best to cut out a spiders web and carefully put glitter on nice and neatly.

This week was also our first PE lesson. We loved going into the hall all together and we really tried hard to listen to instructions and we had lots of fun. We did lots of running and moving around in different ways and we can't wait for PE next week.

In Maths this week we have been focusing on the number 1. We have looked at how we write the number one, how long 1 minute or 1 second is, how much 1p and £1 is and we have been finding different patterns involving 1 thing at a time. Next week we are focusing on number 2 and I know we are going to learn lots.

We have had such a fun first week of school and the children have all really enjoyed it.

Just some quick reminders:

   - Snack money is £1 every Monday. Throughout the week children's names will be on bags on our middle table and snack money can be posted in the box.

   - Our next PE session is on Friday so can we make sure PE kits are in by Friday with all clothing named so it doesn't get lost.

   - We are hopefully going to be going to our ALPs area next week and so wellington    boots would be really useful as it can get a bit muddy.

We hope you have a great weekend and we are looking forward to next week. Our book of the week next week is The Scarecrow's Wedding and we have lots of fun activities planned.
