Week ending Friday 14th January

Hello and welcome back to our class blog.

These week we have been reading the story 'The Gingerbread Man'. This is our first book in our Traditional Tales topic and we have really enjoyed.

We have been so busy in all of our classroom areas, we have had so much fun.

On our maths table this week we have been looking at the numbers on The Gingerbread men and we have been adding the correct number of pom poms. We have added an extra challenge as we have used tweezers instead of our fingers. This has been great for our fine motor control. We have also been using blocks to create different size towers for each Gingerbread Man. We have been counting using 1-1 correspondence and it has been brilliant!

This week we have loved playing on the playdough table creating our own Gingerbread men. Playdough is fantastic to support our fine motor strength which supports our writing. We have added a mixer to our playdough table so we can pretend to be in a bakery. We have loved it!

We have worked so hard on the creative table this week to make Gingerbread Men. We have loved practising using scissors.

We finished our week with some writing. We watched a video with instructions of how to make gingerbread men. We then decided to write our own instructions. It was very tricky to remember all of the ingredients but we were fantastic!

We have had another fantastic week and I am so proud of how hard the children have worked.

Next week we are reading the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. I can't wait for all of our new activities.

Have a lovely weekend!
