Week ending Friday 6th November

Hello and welcome back to our class blog. We have had another fantastic week reading a Julia Donaldson text. This week our text of the week is 'What the Ladybird's heard'. We've loved this story and we have enjoyed learning about the characters, the setting and splitting the story into the beggining, middle and end.

We have had so much fun re-telling the story. We set a farm up in our classroom and re-told our favoruite parts.

We've done so much fantastic writing this week. We hae looked at picture from our story and have written speech bubbles of what our characters might say. It was tricky sounding out the words but we worked together and our writing is brilliant. We have also been writing a list of the characters in our story. We did this independently and we worked so hard.
As a challenge this week we had to use the tweezers to pick up the lady birds. This was a tricky challenge but we were determined to catch as many as we could. This was a great activitiy to increase our fine motor strength to support our writing.

We've loved working with numbers this week. Our number of the week is number 4. We always start of our week with our magic carpet activitity. We have to put everything we see for the number  4 on the carpet. This is a great way to get us thinking about number.

We have also been doing lots of number activities. We've loved coutning the ladybird's spots and finding the correct number.

Take a look at all our fantastic work with numbers this week.

We have had another fantastic week. I am so proud fo the children and how much progress they are making in reception. They are all working so hard.

Please could we have reading books to change on Wednesday.

Have a great weekend,

Miss Jellyman
