Week ending Friday 7th February

Hello and welcome back to our class blog.

This week we have been learning all about Little Red Riding Hood. We have loved reading the traditional tales this term.

As always though we started off the week with our magic carpet activity. We have been learning all about the number 13. We have loved getting on to teen numbers and we have been doing lots of number sentences, looking at our number lines and learning one more and one less than a number.

We have been really focusing on segmenting and blending simple words. We have learnt so much from RWI and we love putting it into practice during continuous provision. We just need to sound out our word slowly, use our fred fingers and write the sounds we hear. We are fantastic at it! This is something we would love to show you at home.
Our writing this week has been fantastic. We decided to write a shopping list of the things we needed to take to grandmas house. Our writing was amazing!
We've also been thinking about rhyming words this week. We had to say the words out loud and then say which words rhymed. We now know that rhyming words sounds the same. Practising this at home would be great.
One of our challenges on the creative table this week was to use the playdough to make our wolf from the story. The children really focused on his shape, adding his eyes and we even thought about how we could make his teeth and tail. They were great!

As you can see we have had a really busy week. We've done so much this term and you can really see us becoming more independent in our learning.

Reading is such a huge focus for us as a school and reading at home has such a huge impact and it also lets us know how children are doing with their RWI at home. Please can you make sure to sign your childs' reading book when you have read and we can then change it every Monday and Thursday.

Have a great weekend,

Reception F
