Welcome to Pre-School

Entry to school

The pre-school gate is located at the side of the Nursery office.

Staff from our room will be there to welcome your child at 8.40am (morning session and children paying for the extra morning time) or 9am (for a full day session)

If you are later that 8.45am for the morning session you will need to wait until 9am.

Uniform

Uniform is not compulsory but is advised.  Please put your child's name in their jumpers/ cardigans, coats and on their bags.  Items without names are very difficult to keep track of as 50 children pass through the room in the course of a week.

If your child is toilet training, please dress them in bottoms that they can independently pull up and down.

Toilet training

We will do our very best to support your efforts at home in training your child.  Children will have a toileting sheet in the classroom and will be taken no less than every half an hour.

If your child is wearing a nappy still, please make sure that you have sent them to Nursery in a clean nappy/pull up.

Food and drinks

Your child needs to bring a packed lunch if they are staying for dinner.  Please do not overfill lunchboxes.  A sandwich or equivalent, a yoghurt, piece of fruit and a treat is more than enough.  Please also provide your child with a drink for lunchtime- this must not be a fizzy drink.

Children do not need to bring a snack or drink for in the classroom.  We provide continuous milk and water and the children will be invited to have one healthy snack in the morning and in the afternoon.

Book Bags

Your child will be provided with a book bag and book from our loan library.  The book is for you and your child to share in a quiet moment at home.  Once your child has had the story read to them, they can bring the book back and exchange it.

We would like you to send the bag everyday, either with or without the book (keep the book at home if you haven't has a chance to read it!) as the bag can be used for the children's creations they have made at school.

Changing bags

We will keep the change of clothes/ changing bags until your child's clothes/ nappies need replenishing.  If your child brings home their bag it is likely that you will need to check it for dirty clothes or to put in new clothes/ nappies and/or wipes.

Home-school communication

The blog is our main way of communicating with parents.  If we have an urgent message, we will send a text message or give you a phonecall.  Please ensure that you keep yopur phone number up to date with Mrs Rothwell.  We will ask at a later date for you to sign up to the school communication app WEDUC.

Thank you for your support.
