Hello and welcome to the Yr5 Blog. We hope you had a great summer holiday; filled with lots of exciting experiences that were new. We hope that you’re experience in Yr5 will be equally as exciting.
Maths
We started the week looking at place value. In Yr 5 we look at numbers up to 6 digits or millions to me and you. Not only did we look at reading them but writing them in words as well.
English
In English we had to plan, draft, edit and redraft all the exciting things we did in the holidays.
Miss Power reminded us of the things we needed to include in our writing; a variety of punctuation, good vocabulary and making sure it was written in chronological order.
We were also introduced to a new handwriting scheme. Which we have started to learn and which you are reading an example of now.
Science
Our science this term is all about Habitats. We went over to the Alps with clip boards and sketching paper and drew all the different places we saw that creatures could live.
Topic
Woodlands and wetlands is the topic this term. We will be studying the features of woodlands and wetlands. Then linking some features to the rain forests of the world.
PHSE
We thought about our aspirations for our time in year 5. Things we would like to get better at and goals we would like to achieve.
Pupil of the Week is
Mason for a wonderful week in Yr5; you have completed all your work with a smile and have settled into the ‘Upper Phase rhythm.’ Well done Mason; maybe you’ll get your favourite tea tonight!
Birthdays
A very Happy Birthday to Bailey, whose birthday was on Tuesday this week, we hope you had a great celebration and lots of cake!!
Have a great weekend and we’ll see you again on Monday.
