Slime Time

In Pre-school, we are beginning to develop the skills we need to become future writers. We are participating in various activities which enables us to strengthen the muscles in our shoulders, elbows, arms, wrists, hands and fingers. These muscles are super important when learning how to grasp a pencil correctly and use it with control.

This week, we have been making slime, playdough and moon sand.

We strengthen the muscles in our shoulders, elbows and arms when mixing the ingredients. We don’t use chairs in the malleable area as this encourages us to use our upper body to squish and stir the ingredients together.

We strengthen the muscles in our wrists, hands and fingers when we squash, pat, tear, stretch, squeeze and roll the materials.
