As we have only a few weeks left of Pre-school, we let the children take control of our learning environment by inviting them to choose what activities and resources are put out in Continuous provision. The Paw patrol and dressing up are always the number one choices. For this week in the Creative area, the children voted for slime!
This has most definitely been their favourite messy and sensory activity this year.

Over the last few weeks we have been focussing on our Healthy bodies, in particular, exercising our bodies and what ways we can keep fit and the signs our body shows us that it has been exercising, such as, feeling hot or heart racing or out of breath.
This week we focussed on Healthy Eating and discussed why some foods are healthy and why some foods are unhealthy. We talked about why we shouldn’t eat too much salt or sugar and what foods contain lots of these ingredients.

On Wednesday, a small group of children walked to the local shop to buy healthy fruits so we could make fruit stick.

They bought strawberries, mango, coconut, apples and melon.
We then chopped up and tasted the fruits and used them to make a healthy fruit stick.

On Thursday, we went into the front garden to pick the ripe strawberries that have been growing. We looked carefully for the big, red ones and pulled them from the stems. We took them in class and used them to make a yummy strawberry smoothie. We added the strawberries to a blender and added healthy milk. The blender mixed it all together and we each tasted the smoothie. It was delicious!

For a healthy snack, we tasted cucumber, mango had avacado on toast. Firstly the children looked at, smelt and felt the texture of the fruits, then the foods were chopped up to taste. The cucumber was the children’s favourite. Some children really enjoyed the avacado on toast, even having seconds! Well done for tasting!
