26th June

Week ending 26th June

Wow, what a hot week it has been! The children have been amazing, considering how high the temperatures have been this week. We have started our Design and Technology project this week. We have been looking at wheels and axels and how they connect to a chassis. We have started to make our own vehicles based on the emergency services.

 English

We have written our own poem this week based on 'Oi Dog'. We have focused on rhyming words to complete the piece. We have started a new English topic called, 'Bubbles'. We are finding out about story settings. We have described what a beautiful beach setting looks like and used adjectives and nouns to describe it.

Maths

We have continued our work on fractions and have looked at halves and quarters of objects and shapes, then we have looked at half and a quarter of an amount.

Science

We have continued our work on 'Animals including humans'. We are concentrating on different animal groups. This week it has been reptiles. We sorted true and false statements about reptiles and sorted animal pictures into snakes and lizards by looking at the features they have.

Topic

We found out more things about Florence Nightingale and sorted pictures and statements into groups. We looked mainly at how hospitals were before Florence Nightingale and what they were like after. We learnt she was known as, 'the lady with the lamp' because she walked around the hospital checking the patients carrying a lamp.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and hopefully it will be a bit cooler next week.
