Friday 2nd May

Hello again,

Did you know, it was Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus who established the scientific process of classifying living things by grouping organisms according to their characteristics? In Y6 science, we have been learning this process and have produced several pieces of work that shows skill in classifying. This week, leaves were collected from the ALPS area and the children worked as a team to identify trees by the characteristics of their leaves. Questions such as "Is it a compound leaf?" or "Does it have a serrated edge?" were used until each leaf was on its own. Then it could be named. Take a look!
