Welcome back to year fours blog!
What an extra busy week this week!
In writing, the children have been looking at similes and metaphors. A simile is where you compare two things with using the words 'as' or 'like'. A metaphor is where you say something is something else! Very tricky and I was blown away with the children's examples. https://wordwall.net/resource/28006922/similes-metaphors
In maths, the children have been looking at times and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 and at related facts to their times table. So for example... 3 x 8 = 24 30 x 8 = 240 and 300 x 8 = 2400 Challenging stuff ey?!
This week, we finished our class novel. The Polar Bear Explorers' Club. We wrote a detailed book review about this novel in reading. We are already looking forward to our next one.
We went on our trip to the Turnpike Gallery in Leigh on Wednesday and what a fantastic time we had. The children completed lots of activities around the paintings and sculpture that were there and even made their very own clay sculpture.
And FINALLY, Thursday was World Book Day. How lovely to celebrate all things books. Have a look at the super costumes below.
Have a fantastic weekend and see you all Monday morning.
