WB 8th December
Hello and welcome back to the Reg 2 class blog.
This week, our maths focus has been on patterns. The children have been continuing and creating simple repeating patterns such as red, yellow, red, yellow; big teddy, little teddy, big teddy, little teddy; and clap hands, stomp feet, clap hands, stomp feet. You can support this learning at home by encouraging your child to create simple patterns using colours, toys or actions.
We have also been getting very festive in the classroom this week. The children have been continuing to sing their favourite nursery rhymes and have been learning some new ones too, which we hope to share with you here next week. These have been practised in small groups using instruments, as well as during our whole-class carpet time.
Another focus this week has been learning the correct way to catch our coughs and sneezes, and understanding why this is important. Our friend Wolfie the puppet has helped the children learn this, and together they created a poster which we now have displayed in our classroom.
In our mindfulness sessions this week, we have been learning The Blue (Sad) Song, which helps the children understand ways they can look after themselves when they are feeling sad. The children moved along to the song using colourful scarves.
This learning has been supported through our PE sessions, where the children have been dancing to songs that encourage movement and coordination.
We have also added hug breathing and insect breathing to our calm breathing book
The children are continuing to be supported as they practise writing their own names.
Within the classroom, the children have had many opportunities to engage in a range of festive and winter-themed activities. These activities are carefully planned to support specific areas of development.
Next week is our final week before we close for the two-week Christmas break. On Friday 19th December, we will be holding our Reg 2 class party. All children are invited to attend at 9:15am. Collection for all children on this day will be at 11:15am. There will be no afterschool club session on Friday the 19th December.
We will then reopen as normal on Tuesday 6th January 2026.
