Week ending 19th June 2026

19th June

Hello and a warm welcome back to this weeks class blog. This week we have been using the lovely text Superworm. Another marvellous Julia Donaldson story about a worm who was super long and super strong. Let's start off by looking at some of our themed invitations to play and learn

We started the week off by thinking about our Superworm number bonds. We discovered the numbers that can be added together to make 10. We did a great job and were really focused on identifying the patterns in the numbers. Take a look at our work

We also learnt more about number and quantity and how to identify numbers and then select only the correct number of objects to match. We played a game and had to pretend that we were feeding the bird worms. Here we are in action

We also ordered worms with numbers on them. We talked about how to read numbers forwards and backwards and then to extend our learning further we removed numbers and had to guess which ones had been removed

We also created repeating pattern worms in our Funky Finger area. We challenged ourselves to see how many colours we could use and how many different patterns we could create

The Superworm story has led to many creative writing opportunities this week. We are focusing on promoting and developing independent writing and some of the work produced this week has been an absolute treat to read. Keep up the good work everyone. Remember practise makes perfect!

Our Learning to Learn space has been super productive as usual. Have a look at our learning

We have also been developing our knowledge and ability to be able to identify capital letters and lower case letters. We have been exploring lots of practical activities designed to help us name and match letters! And as you have probably guessed, this week's activities have been worm themed!

Next week's text of the week will be the story Tiddler! Have a great weekend.
