week ending 20th March 2026

Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. What a fabulous week we have had and the signs of Spring in the air have been perfect as we continue our learning about Growth. Let's start by looking at some of the lovely invitations to learn we have experienced this week smiley

We started off the week by discussing what hopes and dreams we had for the future. We talked about the different jobs we might like to do and what skills we needed for them. Here are some of our ideas smiley

As we continue our learning about growth we looked at how different flowers grow and what they look like. We have learned about petals, stems and roots and shoots. Take a look at some of our lovely observational drawings. We have explored lots of different media and this week and we have created some true masterpieces smiley

We also thought about the different animals that live around the pond. We learned all about tadpoles and other creatures. Here we are writing lists. What is even more impressive is the independence we showed when writing. Keep up the good work everyone! smiley

Keeping and developing a good pencil grip is really important to us. We plan and explore lots of Funky Finger ideas everyday and provide the children with opportunities to develop both their strength and grip. Here we are using golf pegs and mini hammers to develop our pincer grip smiley

We have also been showing our ability to follow a simple pattern and create flowers. The children loved this activity so much last week that Mrs Evans made new cards and we created even more beautiful bunches in class. A firm favourite this week in the Maths area yes

Our phonic area this week has been very popular. We have been matching capital letters to lower case letters, reading words and finding the corresponding pictures. Great reading everyone!

We have also been looking at the life cycle of animals. We looked at the different development stages that occur when frogs and butterflies grow. Look at our fabulous week. Why not ask us about the different stages? smiley

In Reception we love children going home and asking to learn more about their favourite things. This week we are delighted to have one of our lovely children create a book at home and share it with her friends in class. What amazing work and we are very proud of you! If you have anything at home that your child would like to share with others please send it into school smiley

Next week we will be learning using the text A Superhero like you. If you would like to listen to the story before Monday please click on the link below -

Have a great weekend
