Hello and welcome to this weeks class blog. We have been using the text A Superhero Like You as the focus for our learning this week. We have been learning all about the everyday people we meet and the superhero powers they have. Let's start by looking at some of the invitations to learn we have explored this week ![]()
We started the week off in the creative area by making our own puppets. We used scissors to cut and assemble puppets that we used to tell stories and help us with our learning. We also engaged in lots of discussions about the jobs we would like to do later in life ![]()
We talked about the different jobs we would like to learn about when we are older. We talked about the qualities needed to do these jobs for example kindness, caring and brave. The children drew pictures of themselves in their desired job roles ![]()
We used the theme of superheroes in our phonics area. We added words to superhero splats and pow signs and challenged our friends to read the words. We then set a further challenge as to how many words we could read in 1 minute! wow ![]()
We also thought about the attire of superheroes. We discussed how some people needed a uniform for their job and others didn't. This created lots of lovely conversations and job role. We had a lot of children hoping to be a teacher one day!
Some children thought that they would need a shield to be able to do job well so we designed and created our own shields in our creative area ![]()
Our Funky Finger area in class has seen a lot of action this week. We have been threading, using pegs and hammers and gold tees to add to our Superhero theme. We even had to untangle some superheroes who had somehow managed to get tangled up in string! We have had a great time ![]()
We have been developing our oracy skills in class and have been composing what questions we would like to ask the superheroes we see everyday. We composed questions, wrote them down and asked our very own superheroes in school about their job! Here are some of the fabulous questions we devised ![]()
This week we have been focusing on doubling in our maths work. We have been creatign and using stem sentences to help us with our learning for example 2 add 2 is 4 because double 2 is 4. Here we are in doubling action ![]()
And finally, in PE this week we have been doing Yoga. We have really enjoyed this half terms learning and we have mastered lots of new and different yoga poses. Take a look at our poses and skill ![]()
Next week we will be undertaking one of our most lovely enhancement weeks all about Spring. We cannot wait to share with you what we learn in class. Have a fabulous weekend and thank you to all those parents who came to parents evening. It was lovely to share your child's progress with you.
