Hello and welcome back to this week's class blog. This week we have been using the text The Smartest Giant in Town. This lovely story about friendships has helped us to learn to empathise and understand the needs of others. As always, we plan our classroom provision carefully so let's have a look at this weeks invitations to learn
One of the first activities we explored this week was to write a speech bubble sharing something George the Giant said in the story. George was a very kind giant who gave away lots of different items of clothing to animals to help them. We talked about how helping others makes us feel. We have tried hard to think of others this week and give a helping hand. Take a look at some of our independent writing
We also wanted to gift George a new tie especially as he gave his away to a giraffe to help keep his neck warm. So we got busy in the creative area and made some amazing ties that George would be super proud to wear. Look at our designs. They look great don't they?
Our Funky Finger area has been super busy this week and we have been threading, hammering and using pegs all linked to our text of the week. These type of activities help to strengthen our grip and muscles and help us to hold our pencil correctly when we write
We also thought about how we use writing to create a list for example when we go shopping. In our writing area we have been wriitng lists of all the different clothing George gave away to his animals friends in need.
At the end of The Smartest Giant in Town story George was given a party by his friends to help celebrate his kindness. We used the ipad to take pictures and then added our own crowns and decorations. This helped to remind us that when we work together and share we can achieve great things. Here we are with our decorated friendship crowns
