Week ending 26th June 2026

Hello and a very warm welcome back to this weeks class blog. What a scorcher it has been! Let's start off the week by looking at some of this weeks invitations to play and learn

We started the week off by thinking about the events in the story. We successfully named, found and ordered the days of the week correctly. Well done everyone. We even learnt a song about them too!

We have also been writing independently this week about the story and what happened. Tiddler was a little fish with a very big imagination, and told lots of tales about why he was late for school

Our maths area has been super busy this week. We have shown the children what a 100 square looks like and left them out in provision to see how the children used them. Wow! We were amazed! they copied numbers, found out which numbers can be added together to make a new number, talked about one more and one less and truly enjoyed writing the numbers and learning about their value. Here we are in action

Our new addition Julia Donaldson books have gone down a treat in our reading corner. The children have been so excited and motivated to read that it has been a pleasure to observe. The wonderful world of Julia Donaldson has captured the imagination of the children and they are thriving

And despite our text of the week being about a fish and under the sea the children were delighted to find that a dragon fly had landed in our classroom on the RWI letter line. The children knew straight away that it should land on d for dragonfly and this led to some lovely conversations and fact finding about dragon flies.

Our Learning to Learn space has been so very popular this week. We have explored the ocean in depth and talked about the sights and sounds. Here we are engaging in our learning activities

Next week we will explore the lovely text Charlie Cooks Favourite Book. Have a little look for it over the weekend on You Tube with a grown up. It's a great story all about different characters who are all reading books about someone else. We start the week off with a pirate theme so remember to pop back to next weeks blog to find out more

Have a lovely weekend in the sunshine
