Hello and welcome back to the blog. This week we have been using the text A Squash and a Squeeze and what a wonderful week it has been. As we continue to use Julia Donaldson as the focus for our learning we are discovering lots of similarities between the texts - they rhyme, they have similar characters and not to mention our love of finding hidden Gruffalos 
Before we begin let's look at our invitations to come and play this week.
We then thought about what types of animals in our home would make it a squash and squeeze and then created a label to show our thinking. Take a look at our fabulous work
We also took the characters from the story and looked at symmetry - both sides are exactly the same. We talked about the features, positioning and shape. Take a look at our very skilled sketches 
We also took some of the sentences we had been reading from the book, cut them up and had a go at re-ordering them to make them make sense. This was a great challenge and we loved correcting our silly sentences
In our Learning to Learn time this week we have explored a range of sensory activities. We have created ice pictures, explored texture using vehicles and painted on tin foil using big chunky brushes as we explore colour mixing. Perfect
However, I think it's fair to say our highlight of this week has definitely been our Writing Stay and Play session. We just love being able to show our grown ups around the classroom and talk to them about our learning. Here are some of the Julia Donaldson themed writing activities we explored
